Sprinkles of Dreams July Wrap Up

July Wrap-Up // In Which I’m Back to Reading All the Books

Happy August! 🌱☀️🍃

I’m fully aware of the fact that I say this every month, but July genuinely felt like it came and went in the blink of an eye. (I blame it on my internship, really.)

August was the first month this year in which I could finally read without too many feelings of “I should be studying/productive in regards to my studies”, and I fully embraced the two-and-a-half weeks in which I had no lectures to attend.

And I managed to read so many more books than all those months before!!

86-2Posts I Loved

  • My blog collaboration with Olivia was one of my absolute highlights of the month! I’m so in love with the post she wrote, and so happy we got to scream about one of our favorite fandoms together, Harry Potter.
  • CW wrote an amazing recommendation post, in which she combines her love for Ghibli with her love of books, and I love it to pieces.
  • Rain recommended Asian books based on other books you’ve probably read and loved, and I absolutely adore it.
  • Taasia compiled an Ultimate Summer Reading List featuring over fifty fun, and diverse summer books! (We stan.)
  • Shri wrote an insightful blog post on sibling relationships in books, and how a lot of times the relationship part is … lacking.
  • Chaima wrote a beautiful book review for R.F. Kuang’s The Dragon Republic, and it made me even more excited to start on my ARC as soon as possible.

86-2Awards and Tags

I was nominated enough times in the 2019 Book Blogger Awards to get to voting rounds in six (ahhh) categories!

2019 Book Blogger Awards — Voting // May @ Forever and Everly

I haven’t talked a whole lot about them, nor asked you to vote for me here on my blog, because of Impostor’s Syndrome on one hand, and not wanting to make anyone feel like they have to vote for me on the other, but thank you all so much for thinking of me, and nominating me, it means the world to me!

(I feel marginally more comfortable saying it on my blog now, since voting is officially closed.)

Best of Book Blogging

  • Best Book Reviews
  • Best Blog Aesthetic

  • Best Personality
  • Friendliest Member of the Community

Most Importantly

Being nominated alone is already such a huge honor, and no matter the results of the voting round, I’m so excited to celebrate the winners soon!! 💖

  1. Congrats on being nominated for the awards, Lily ❤
From your list, I've only read Her Royal Highness. I'm really sad to hear it didn't make it to you!
I hope this month brings you better books! Happy August ^^

      1. Actually, fun fact, I had no idea there was a first book until I finished Her Royal Highness and went to update Goodreads! I think it works really well as a standalone too. Did you read it? 🙂

          1. Not at all, tbh! It’d be nice to go back to that world, I suppose, but without Millie and Flora, it wouldn’t be the same. Besides, the characters of the first book don’t really call for me xd

    1. Ahh I’m so glad you enjoyed our collaboration, Crystal! ☺️ I really, really hope you’ll love all these books, especially Jade City—and I’m pretty sure you’ll love The Tea Dragon Society, because it’s absolutely adorable, and so wholesome, and just wonderful. :’)

The happiest of reading to you as well!! 💛

    1. Ahh Charis, I honestly wish I could have blogged or written more, but it’s always hard to balance these things, and I just really felt like reading this month. 🙉 You should be proud of writing & blogging more, though!! 💛

I hope August is a great reading month for you! ✨

    1. It helps a lot that I’m a fast reader, and that I was done with exams, which means that I could concentrate so much better (which in turn upped my reading speed)! And I read a lot during my commute to and from my internship. 🙂

Ahh yes, Mooncakes was really cute! You should totally read The Tea Dragon Society, if you haven’t yet, because I feel like you’d enjoy it a lot as well, it has similar vibes~

Thank you so much, Faith!! I hope your August is absolutely fantastic. ✨💕

  2. Ahh, you read so many books!! That’s amazing.☺️What were your thoughts on Famous in a Small Town?? It was probably my favorite Emma Mills book so far besides Foolish Hearts, because August was adorable + the friend group + the family the MC babysat for was the cutest ever.

I loved our collab post, too!! It was definitely the blogging highlight of my month- thank you again for doing it with meee.

Congratulations on all the nominations you got!! You deserve them all so much and I’m so happy for you.💛💖I hope you have the most wonderful of Augusts!

    1. I honestly feel like I need to read the non-ARC version, just because I enjoyed it overall, but felt like something was missing, and certain aspects could have been improved upon?

My favorite is still Foolish Hearts, but I totally agree with you on All points!! The babysitting was adorable, and I think I already pointed out the Jess/Rory parallels to August/Sophie when we talked about it a bit on Instagram. 👀

I’m definitely always up for collabing with you again & ahh thank you so much!! Congrats to you for your nominations as well! 🥳

I hope your August is absolutely wonderful! ✨💛

  3. So glad to hear that you could read again without having to feel guilty for it, you deserve some relaxing time after all the hard work 💕 I also feel like time flies by so fast literally every month 😱 My July was pretty good, as I finally finished this semester/my internship and went on vacation 😍 I hope you have a great August! 🙂

  4. Congratulations on the nominations. They are all very much deserved!! 😀 😀
I am impressed by your reading month. How you managed to squeeze in 23 books is magic to me. Unfortunately, I’ve been in a terrible slump, only reading when I’m in the mood and short bursts at that. Good thing I have Netflix to keep me occupied.
Hope you have a lovely August!

  5. congrats on all your nominations, lily!
you’ve read a lot this month, which is amazing! i noticed you didn’t like the foxhole court that much, which i relate. i read it back in march and it’s probably my most disappointing read of the year, since i totally thought i’d give it 5 stars. but i was planning on continuing with the series nonetheless, since i felt like it could get better later on. but since your rating on the second book wasn’t that good either, i’m not sure how to feel, lol. would love to hear some in-depth thoughts on it and if you intend on carrying on and reading the last book in the trilogy.
hope you have an amazing august! 😊

    1. Thank you so much, Lais! 💛

I read the entire series last year, this is actually a reread! The series definitely gets better with each book, but if you don’t connect with the characters—which are what makes this series worth all the objectively not exactly outstanding writing/&c.—I’d recommend skipping the other books.

I hope your August is wonderful!

  6. Wonderful wrap up, Lily!! I just want to say again how happy I am that you’ve been back in the blogosphere this past month! I missed you so much of your hiatus! Haha ❤ ❤ A huge congrats on all the nominations! You absolutely deserve them all! And that's amazing how you read so much! I really want to read the Tea Dragon Society books, so seeing your ratings makes me want to pick them up asap!

    1. Thank you so much, Kelly! 💕💕

Ahh you’re the sweetest, I’m so glad to be back as well. 😊 And ahh it’s such a wholesome, wonderful series, I hope you adore it, when you get to it!!

Hoping you have a fantastic month. ❤

  7. just going to causally ignore your 3 1/2 star rating for famous in a small town so i can continue loving you
also your instagram is so aesthetic lily can you not do something perfect for once in your life youre making the rest of us look bad
hope your august is going amazing b💕

    1. Listen,,, I want to read the final version instead of the ARC as a reread, because I felt like a little something was missing to give it a full four stars, so … no need to ignore anything to continue loving me??

Love you & hope your August is as amazing brilliant wonderful fantastic as you!! 💕💕💕

i can't wait to read The Electric Heir ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. And I'm glad to see you rated The Bone Garden 3 stars, I did too, I found it…. interesting but somehow lacking. I liked the atmosphere of it all but wanted a bit more from it, too.
    I hope you're having a beautiful August ❤
