Top Ten Tuesday - Longest Books // Sprinkles of Dreams

Top Ten Tuesday #1 // Books that Slowed Down Time a.k.a. The Longest Books I’ve Read

Happy Tuesday &
Welcome to my first Top Ten Tuesday post!

I’ve been meaning to take part in a TTT it for a while now, but somehow never got around to it?

This week’s topic is all about the longest books we’ve read in our reading careers so far (yes, reading books is a career, and we get paid in the form of happiness, joy, pain, heartbreak, and a multitude of other emotions), and I’m so excited to share mine with you!

I’m only including one book per series, because otherwise, 50% of this list would probably consist ofย Harry Potter.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish, and is a weekly meme now organized by Jana @ย That Artsy Reader Girl.

  1. I absolutely didn’t notice how long Winter is… I only remember having a blast with the story! I also absolutely adored The Secret History and actually wished there were more pages for me to read. โค

    1. I listened to the audiobook, and I think it was 24 hours long? ๐Ÿ™‰ It was fun, though, definitely!

I really enjoyed Donna Tarttโ€™s writing in The Secret History, Iโ€™m glad you loved it! โ˜บ๏ธ Have you read any of Donna Tarttโ€™s other books?

    1. Ahh I relate!! I mostly read books on my e-reader, so itโ€™s a Tiny little bit less scary for me, but I still get intimidated. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Haha, aww. OOTP is my favorite, and Iโ€™ve read the HP series a lot of times, so Iโ€™m a bit less scared, but when it comes to new books … ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

    1. Iโ€™ve noticed that as well! I guess itโ€™s just one of those books almost everyone has read, regardless of their preferred genre. ๐Ÿ˜„

Thanks for leaving a comment! โ˜บ๏ธ Iโ€™ll go check our your post right now. ๐Ÿ’›

        1. I haven’t finished the series, either! I really liked the first book, but my interest waned slowly, as I continued with the next books. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Melina Marchetta is such a fantastic writer! Have you read Saving Francesca? It’s my absolute favorite book of hers. ๐Ÿ˜

        1. That’s such a relief, because I have no interest in it at all? โ€“ย I think I’m just not a fan of vampires. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I’m glad you’ve figured out your reading taste (if I interpreted this correctly?), though! โค

  3. Lovely list, Lily! โค I've read Gemina, Winter and the Harry Potter book from this list and loved them! โค What did you think of The Secret History? This book is on my TBR, it sounds great! ๐Ÿ˜€

Ahh these are all such enjoyable books, I’m so glad you loved them! The Secret History is such a remarkable book, and I really loved its entire aesthetic! I hope you can get to it sometime soon, because I’d love to hear what you think of it! โ˜บ๏ธ

  4. It does seem that Twilight, Harry Potter, and the Lunar Chronicles are topping lots of lists this week! You made a smart decision to only include one book per series. You have some titles I haven’t heard of before on here, I’ll have to look into them.

  5. I still can’t believe Winter was over 800 pages. It didn’t feel like that long of a book haha. I need to read Froi of the Exiles. I LOVE Finnikin of the Rock, but for some reason I’ve just not been in the mood to continue with the series.

  6. A Song of Ice and Fire has some of the longest books I’ve read. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was long, but it didn’t feel as long as ASOIAF. Harry Potter went by quickly, but I almost had to drag myself through giant chunks of ASOIAF.

  7. The only book I’ve read on this list is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but oh did I love it! I would venture to say it’s one of my favorites (if not my favorite) in the series (and for sure my favorite movie adaptation). I started the Lunar Chronicles series but never read past Scarlet, so I’ll have to finish them up. Lovely post!

    1. Thanks, Claire! ๐ŸŒป

Ahh same, my favorites do change a bit sometimes, but OOTP is always one of them. I hope you can get to the other books in the Lunar Chronicles series soon & enjoy them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy reading & I hope your day is lovely! ๐Ÿ’›

  8. oh my god how did i forget one of the vampire academy books was that long?? & ughhh now i’m even more daunted by the idea of eventually finally reading Nevernight. WHY SO LONG.

but of this list i have also read HP (ofc), Gemina, and Winter!! plus Vampire Academy. now my idea of rereading the Lunar Chronicles and also Vampire Academy is seeming a lil less reasonable

  9. oh god I love long books SO MUCHHHH. But they scare me bc what if you get halfway through and the story suddenly becomes boring but now it’s too late because you’re invested??? THE RISKS KSDJFLDKSJ
also I want to read The Secret History and I bought it and everything, but it’s been sadly neglected bc i’m obsessed with rom-coms. I have such a deep need for fluffy banter??????

    1. Yes, long books are trรฉs scary!! I relate so much, especially because I hate DNFing books. But also, if I love a book, it’s always so great to know that there’s so much of it??

I 100% feel the same way, I’ve been craving fluffy and light-hearted books with cute friendships or OTPs to root for. But I definitely recommend The Secret History, it’s beautifully written! โค

    1. Ahh I loved that series so much! I want to re-read it so badly, but in German, because I feel like so much of my nostalgia is tied to the language I read it in? โค (Whom did you ship, by the way??)

Haha, I don't remember it being that long, either, it's definitely been way, way too long for me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  10. Ahhh, I still need to read Nevernight and Winter (I read the 3 other Cinder books awhile ago)!
And omg the Inkheart trilogy, what a throwback! I don’t remember a lot of the plot of the books, but I have fond memories of reading those books in middle school! ๐Ÿ™‚
Also, welcome to TTT! It’s such a fun book meme and has created some of my favorite posts to write! Hope you continue to enjoy it!

    1. Winter is soo long, but also a lot of fun! I wasnโ€™t the biggest fan of Nevernight, I hope youโ€™ll like it more that I did. ๐Ÿ™‚

I get so nostalgic, whenever I see the books, Iโ€™m glad you have fond memories of them, too. Maybe itโ€™s time for a re-read, hehe. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Thank you so much! Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™ll do it every week, but Iโ€™ve had a lot of fun with this prompt. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. That’s good to hear! I definitely need to reread the first 3 books tho before picking it up Winter.

And yesss, rereading the Inkheart trilogy sounds like such a good idea! Ahhh, rereading is so hard sometimes because picking up new books just seems so much more attractive most of the time….bah, what a dilemma. ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿ˜Š I totally get that! I don’t participate every week either, but I usually aim to do about 2 of them every month. Glad to hear you had fun!

  11. Lovely post, Lily! The only book I’ve read on your list is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and I have to say, although that was is so incredibly long, I enjoyed every second of it and wouldn’t want it to be any shorter. That must just be the intense Potterhead inside of me, though. ๐Ÿ˜‰
