Five-Star Readathon // Sprinkles of Dreams

The Five-Star Readathon // Ft. (Part of) My October TBR & Muse of Nightmares

Happy first of October, everyone! 🍁🍂

I’m currently sitting cross-legged on my bed, bundled up in one of my favorite, coziest sweaters, amidst a sea of books (sadly, not the reading-for-pleasure-ones, but the ones with titles that include words you’ll find in medical journals).

Despite the fact that I should be studying right now, and going over my schedule, as well as preparing for various of my classes, and extracurriculars for this month, I wanted to drop in really quickly to announce my taking part in my second ever readathon!

28

As you can tell by the title, it’s the Five-Star-Readathon you may have already heard about, hosted by some of my favorite bloggers; May, Ju, and Elise (the original creator!).

It runs from today, Monday the 1st, 12 am, to Sunday, October 7th, 11.59 pm, and is all about reading books you think you’ll love. The readathon also includes an additional challenge that you’re free to take on, but is 100% optional.

THE CHALLENGES

1. Read a next book in a series you like

I’m still waiting to fully fall in love with V.E. Schwab, but I really enjoyed the first book in the The Villains series, and I like her writing a lot, so I can’t wait to start this book. [I’m also buddy reading it with Kaleena! 💚]

2. Read a book by a favorite author

I fell in love with Alice Oseman only this year, but it honestly feels like I’ve been in love with her forever. I’m so excited to read this book, and even more excited to be buddy reading it with one of my absolute favorite people ever, Tal!!

3. Read a book you were anticipating and never got around to reading

I first heard of this book from Marie, and I’ve been wanting to read it ever since I read her review, which was … a while ago. (🙈) So far, I can safely say that I’m enjoying it (I started reading it today!); I love so many of the characters already, and I adore the great friendships. [Bonus points, because I’m buddy reading it with my fave, May.]

4. Read a book over 500 pages

I’ve been screaming about this book for way too long, and way, way too many times, but I’m actually still in disbelief that the time to read it has finally come. (AHHH.)

5. Read five books

For my fifth book, I picked Anger is a Gift, because I’ve been seeing it around a lot for a while now, but also because 1) May told me to read it, and 2) it will (probably) make me shed tears over fictitious events and circumstances for a change. 🙃

blue-watercolor-wash-texture-5letschat!-2What are you planning on reading this month?
Are any of these books on your TBR?
Most importantly, do you say “fall” or “autumn”? 🌰

  1. YAS LILY YOU’RE PARTICIPATING I CAN’T BELIEVE THE TIME HAS COME!!!!!!!!!
On a slightly less excited note – I say both, depending on the context. But mainly autumn, cause it sounds cooler 😂
I can’t wait to see how those books go! I’m reading ‘they both die at the end’ by Adam Silvera for my ‘anticipation’ book. I’m… a little disappointed at thee start but it’s getting better! The problem is… I literally just read Wildcard last week… that could’ve been my ‘next book in a series you like’! Grr…
I hope you enjoy your TBR!

    1. I’m so excited!! And I say both as well; English not being my first language and all, I use both British and American words/sometimes spellings, and people tend to get confused. 😄

I didn’t like TBDATE much 😕 – I’m glad it’s improving for you & I hope you come to love it!!

Thanks so much, I hope you do, too! Which book did you end up picking for the 500+ pages challenge? ☺️

          1. omg it’s just so easy to click to request button??? and then it’s too late!!! I’ve created a new rule, I’m not allowed to request books unless I’ve had tea + a long personal reflection XD
but my the ARCs seem really good so I’m also happy??? and as long as it’s not a tour, it’s not as much pressure XD

  4. urgh i’m so jealous of everyone doing this readathon! i’m blaming may and elise for not personally telling me it was happening, but honestly my schedule is too unwieldy and i’m too scared that my slump-free life is fragile. i don’t want to slump again so i’m scared to make myself read??? slumping the whole summer broke me – i am a husk of my former self, etc.

anyway shoutout to not fully understanding the schwab love!! i’m wishing you luck on the readathon (even though you won’t need it, you reading machine.) hope your week is chock full of five star reads!

    1. Ahh I wish you could join, I’d love to see your list of books you think you’ll love! And I’m always scared to slump, too, I feel you!! You do what works for you, you know yourself best! ❤ (I … did not realize you were slumping during the summer, you read so many books, regardless ahh.)

I really Don't, even though I wish I did. :/ I hope all the most amazing books find their way to you, Emma! ❤

    1. I’m currently halfway through, and I LOVE it!! I loved Strange the Dreamer, too (which has such an unfortunate abbreviation 😅), and so far, the sequel doesn’t disappoint.

And same, I used to say “autumn”, but now I go back and forth, haha.

Happy reading, and I hope you have a wonderful month, Aimee! So proud of you for slaying your exam. ☺️💞

  5. I say neither! Unfortunately we don’t experience Seasons here in Kenya but I like the word Autumn.
This october I am doing Victober which is basically reading Victorian Literature all through October.
I love your TBR and happy reading.

    1. Aw, that’s a shame! I love the word autumn as well, it fits the season so well. 🙂

Ohh, I hope you have the best time with it! If you find the time, you should definitely read something by Jane Austen & maybe Jane Eyre. 😊

Thank you! Happiest of reading to you as well! 🌷

  6. This is such a great readathon, and as I am a bit late in commenting on this, I hope that it started off on a GREAT note for you. I’m so happy to see Final Draft on this list (thank you for the mention!! <3) and I hope you and May will love it as much as I did ❤ ❤ Happy reading!!

  7. Oh this Readathon looks like a lot of fun 😍 I have just started reading Vicious and I’m very intrigued, though I have not gotten into it too far 🙂 Your post also reminded me that I have to try out Laini Taylor, I have not read anything by her yet 😱

    1. It is!! I’m almost done with it, but my being dumb and not realizing I’m picking two 500+ pages severely stressed me out. 🙉

Ahhh you NEED to read this series! I didn’t like DOS&B that much, but this one is Amazing. And I’m so curious how you’ll end up liking Vicious, I hope you’re having the best time with it!!
