Monthly Wrap-Up August // Sprinkles of Dreams

August Wrap-Up // Books, Books, Books

Happy first of September! 🍂
And a special happy back to Hogwarts to all the Potterheads. ⚡️☺️💞

It’s been hailing all day, and all I want to do is snuggle up in my bed, and never leave again.

Sleepy // Sprinkles of Dreams

I took it upon me to read a lot of books in August, because I’m back to being a full-time student this month (yes, my anxiety is sky-high just thinking about it 😭), and even though my course load isn’t going to be as heavy as it’ll be in the following months*, I definitely won’t have as much time to read as I had during the summer.

*I already see myself going MIA for the rest of the year after September, blogging-wise.

BUT LET’S FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE.

How was your August? 💗
Any books you are excited about reading in September?
(Anyone want to reassure me that I’m not alone in feeling disproportionate-to-the-situation-dread at the prospect of starting uni??)

What’s one thing that made you happy today?
(Let’s spread some positivity together!!)

  1. You had A MONTH, babe! And like… I’ve been eyeing Foolish Hearts on my shelves for a while now…. so… I might have to pick up sooner than later! Also, I love you so much and thank you so much for another buddy read with me. Seriously, Lil, I am so blessed to call you my friend. Happy September and happy reading, love! 💖xx

    1. It’s mostly because I was on summer break, and had more free time — but I’ve been asked this a lot, so if you want, I could write a blog post about it & go into more detail regarding how I “schedule” in reading time &c.. ☺️

Aw thank you so much, Sarika! You’re too kind. 😭 Happy September, I hope you have a great month! 💖

  2. Happy September, Lily! 💗 Ahh, good luck in uni and with all your classes! You can do it; I believe in you. ☺️ I started my last year of high school on August 9th, and it’s been pretty stressful (since I have college apps on top of advanced classes 😅). I’m really sad that I haven’t made a blog post since July, but I’m going to try to post at least once in September. But anyways! One thing that made me happy today was going to get boba (bubble tea) with my friend. 😊 I don’t go out too often but it was fun chatting with her today (and working on a project). I hope you had a great day today too!

    1. Oh, thank you so, so much, Dezzy! I really appreciate it. 💗

That sounds really intimidating, but I’m sure you’ll do great, and I have absolute faith in you!! Do you already have colleges in mind? ☺️

I’ve actually checked your blog not too long ago, because I thought I’d missed your posts, but ahh don’t worry about it & we’ll all be here when you’re back. 🤗

Bubble Tea is so good!! 😍 & I’m so happy to hear that you had a nice time with your friend! 😊

Thanks so much for your sweet message, I hope your September is wonderful, and everything at school doesn’t get too overwhelming. 💫💕

      1. Aww, thank you so much for your kindness and support, Lily! That honestly means a lot to me. 💞 Yeah, I’ve already compiled a list of colleges to apply to! Most of them are in California, since I live here, but a couple are on the East Coast (of the US) and other cities on the West Coast. ☺️

Ahh, thank you so much for checking up on my blog, I really appreciate it! And I’m so happy to hear that; I’m hoping to post again soon. 🙈 And ikr, bubble tea is the best; I love it so much. 😋

        1. Of course!! That sounds great, I’m crossing my fingers for you, Dezzy! ✨🤞🏻

I relate to that feeling! But honestly, “real life” always comes first, and should. 😌

YES, if it weren’t so unhealthy, I’d love to have it all day. 🙈 What’s your favorite flavor? 💓

  3. Wonderful wrap up, love! I can’t even fathom how you read so many books! Also this post is so aesthetically pleasing that it warms my heart. Haha. ❤️

I’m sorry to see that you didn’t enjoy Starry Eyes too much! I haven’t read it yet, but it’s been on my tbr!

I hope you have an absolutely amazing September, love! 💗

    1. Thank you so much, Kelly! ☺️ Ahh that’s so sweet of you & I’m so happy to hear that. 💓 And it honestly feels a bit surreal to me too, when I finish up my wrap-ups. 🙈

I hope you like Starry Eyes more than I did! 🙂

Thanks so much for your lovely words, and I hope your September is wonderful! 🌷💜

  4. Don’t worry about going MIA because of school stuff. It’s really okay and blogging will still be here afterwards. You just take it all one step at a time 😀 and maybe you’ll find blogging to be a good stress relief from studying, you never know? I often wrote the most blog posts when I was close to exam season haha
Great wrap up! You read so much and I hope everything will go well once you are a full time student.

    1. Thank you so much, Kat!! I’ll try my best to keep that in mind (but knowing myself, I’ll probably try to do Everything, and then my perfectionist self will take over, and I’ll burn myself out, rip me).

Wow, really?? I’m the complete opposite – I have to shut myself in my room, and stay away from all kinds of social media completely (and sometimes even avoid people IRL). 😅

Thanks so much for your well wishes! I hope so, too. 😌🙏🏻✨ And I hope everything goes well for you in regards to your internship as well! ❤

  5. Eeek good luck with starting uni!! I totally feel for you with the anxiety of starting, plus wondering how to balance all the things. 😭I hope you manage to get some time for yourself to read and blog and relax though!! 💛 And ugh that seems like you had a really disappointing reading month! Hope you find a super good book that you love soon.

    1. Thanks so much, Cait! Knowing that others relate always helps, even though I don’t wish for anyone to. And wow, I struggle so much with trying to do it all, and find a good balance – I just wish I didn’t need sleep?? Or that a day had more than 24 hours? Sighhh.

Thank you so, so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it!! It definitely helped ease my anxiety a bit. 💗

  6. 31 books!? G-I-R-L. You’re slaying! I wish I could read half as much as that. xD And omg, I hope uni treats you well. I just finished my FIRST MONTH and I’m already dead inside. 😂😂😂 Do remember to take care of yourself! DM me any time you want to rant about uni life, LOL. ❤

    1. Thank you so much, Aimee! 💗 I probably won’t have the time to read even one (1) single book after September, so I needed to cherish my last month of freedom. 😂

AHHH I WILL – I’d love to hear how it’s been going for you so far (except for you being rendered dead inside, that is 🙃). And I’ll try my best!! Though I already know that exams are going to turn me into a living zombie. 💀

You've read SO many books this month, I'm impressed! A bit sad to see some of my favorites (always never yours, I was born for this) did not win your heart though :/
I hope you'll have an amazing September ❤

    1. You’re such a ray of sunlight, Marie, I appreciate you more than I can say!! ❤

I'm so heartbroken myself that I didn't love IWBFT! I feel like I should love it, and it has so much going for it, but I just didn’t enjoy reading it very much. I did like Always Never Yours, though! It simply didn’t stand out to me as particularly memorable, or special, so I settled on three stars. (And I feel so bad for not loving them, because I know that you do!! 😔)

I hope your September is absolutely wonderful, Marie! And thanks so much for your kind words, always. 💖

I’m so sorry to hear that – it makes me sad, especially since I think you really liked Alice’s previous books? 😦

You’re so, so welcome, Lily, my pleasure, really!! 💖💖💖

And regarding uni; I feel the same way, and I hope when it starts for you, all the negative feelings will disappear. I’ll be thinking of you!! And I’m always here, if you feel like talking!

Sending you lots of hugs, and all the warmest thoughts in the universe! 💗

  9. OMG Lily how did you read so many books? :O That is like, one a day? How?? I’m shooketh XD
Now I realise how perfect a candidate you are for a readathon – girl, you have absolutely made the best possible decision and I couldn’t be happier to have you on board ❤ I'm sure you'll do amazingly and smash this challenge like it's nothing. Even though you're going back to school I have faith in you! You will most definitely get O's in all your OWLs 😀
Thank you so much for the shout out and may I say, your blog aesthetic is absolutely beautiful and creates this calming effect within me. Must be all the pastels and cute calligraphy – I'm such a sucker for those. So, so pretty and lovely and I just can't look away!
Adored this post, please keep 'em coming and let me know how you're doing so far with the readathon! ❤

    1. I’m thinking of writing a blog post about it, because everyone’s been asking me this for so long, haha. But basically, I honestly just read whenever I can + I was on summer break in August! 😀

Ahh that is so sweet of you, Sophie! I’m so, so happy that I joined, and that we’re doing this readathon together, I’m already enjoying our chats so much. ❤

Thank you so much, you're so sweet and you're going to make me cry. 😭💓 I'm really happy you like it, and your lovely message really made my day so much brighter. :')

Don’t mention it! It really is a pleasure to have you in our midst 😉

And no problem at all, it’s the truth after all and honestly, as soon as I opened your blog I was in awe – most of that reaction stemming from my love for pastels and bubbly/cute things, which your blog has in abundance, but still, a lovely lovely aesthetic ❤

  11. I wish you all the best luck at Uni! 💗💗 I have a bit to go until I have to get back (end of October), but I totally get the dread, as I usually have had so much time to do what I wanted and then you’ve got to do work again 😅 I really need to read something by Emma Mills, her books sound good! 🙂

    1. Thank you so, so much, Caro! 😭❤️

Cherish the time you have left, before uni starts for you! 💓😂 For me, it’s mostly that my anxiety always gets really bad, when I’m stressed (especially because of exams), but I know what you mean!

Oh, I’d definitely recommend Foolish Hearts! I’ve only read two books of hers so far, and I prefer this one by far. 🙂

  12. Wow, what a lovely wrap up! Loved your post and my gosh, you’ve certainly read a lot!! I can’t even begin to imagine how you managed to read so much..haha 😀
August was a good month for me too, I managed to finish my personal summer reading challenge and read 6 books in Aug, of which one was The Hazel Wood- I actually really liked that one 🙂
And I am really looking forward to reading in September- lots of pre orders and special gifts since it is my bday month too..woo hoo!
Listening to Troy Sivan’s latest album – Bloom on repeat is giving me a lot of joy today 😀

Oh, that is amazing, congrats, Prachi!! I’m so happy you enjoyed The Hazel Wood—sadly, it was just not for me.

Ahhh when’s your birthday?? And what are your top anticipated orders/gifts 😏💝

Troy!! I loved his YouTube videos so much as a teen (which sounds so long ago, but is really only a few years, haha), and I still have a soft spot for him.

I’m so glad he’s made your day better. ☺️

  13. Damn, that is definitely a lot of books! I also read Pride and Prejudice in August and quite enjoyed it. Also, seeing your rating on Ace of Shades is getting me even less excited about it… So many people have recommended it but it somehow gives me not-so-great vibes, lol

    1. Yay, so happy you enjoyed it, Dani! I love Jane Austen, so I’m really relieved that I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. ☺️

I hope you like AOS more than I did! But don’t expect it to be like Six of Crows (like it’s marketed), or you’ll most likely be disappointed.

  14. Fab reading haul this month!!! That’s so awesome! I had a wonderful vacation in Portland Oregon in August (but now I’d love a week off just for reading lol). Sending all the good vibes as you get back into uni!! And a good thing that made me happy (last night lol) was I had the best coffee/dates/protein/IDK smoothie ever, it was yummo and filling and much appreciated after a long night of painting a kitchen.

Oh, I hope you have a wonderful, stress-free time, and get a lot of reading done! 😊

And thank you so much! Doing my best to absorb all those good vibes 🤗💫

Ahhh that sounds so delicious! 😍 So glad it managed to inspire happy feelings. 💗💗

(Oh, and I got to “know” you as Cade, but you “changed” your name to Shai, and now I feel unsure what to call you? 😄 [This is my awkward way of asking you what you prefer. 🙈])

      1. Ah no worries 😀 My first name is Shai (rhymes with hey) and I’ve used Cade as a handle online for over 6 years and it’s a nickname IRL as well. So you can call me either! (And if I ever get published it would be as “Shaina Cade.”) Thanks for asking!

  15. OH MY GOSH, THANK YOU FOR FEATURING ME ILY.

and I’m so overwhelmed right now with all the books you read!!!! Autoboyography was so weird for me bc that //creepy af// scene at the end w his best friend? (when he was the worst friend in history lkdjsflsj) AND OH GOD, ARI AND DANTE!! i think at this point I’ve read that book a total of four times, it’s my comfort book. c: c: I just love their friendship so much, and Dante is TINY SWEATER OF LOVE? ++ Dante’s parents should win awards for being sweet and supportive.

+ A List of Cages!! I could not handle the intense friendship rep, it was so much at once.

alsooo I wanted to read This Adventure Ends, bc I heard the friendship are really great but now I’m scared I won’t like it!! Emma Mills is really hard to say, bc some of her books are amazing and one I DNF

I hope September is amazing tooooo ❤ ❤

I feel so bad for not liking Autoboyography, I know how much everyone loves it. 😦 But I LIKED ARI AND DANTE YAY. And I agree with everything you said. :’) A List of Cages is such a wholesome book, I need to re-read it.

Ahhh I really liked Foolish Hearts, but yeah, This Adventure Ends was not for me.
