I know that I am always alone, even when surrounded by people, so I let the emptiness in.

We Are Okay is quiet, but powerful.

It delicately taps into your emotions, and makes you feel—but most of all, it makes you ache.

I didn’t to read much about this book before starting it, and it was the best decision I could have made, because there is a reason the synopsis is so vague, and there is a reason why my review is.

Every tug at your heart, every sudden weight in your stomach that you feel, that Nina LaCour brings to life with simple, but evocative words, makes you experience the heavy sadness tinged with apathy that lingers in Marin’s life as if it’s your own.
