WWW Wednesday #1 // May Releases!

It’s Wednesday, and the weekend is in sight!! 🌸

There are so many books I’m looking forward toβ€”bless all the amazing book releases this month!β€”so I thought I’d share some of them with you, and use this post as motivation not to fall behind in my Goodreads Reading Challenge, since I’ve been in a tiny reading slump since the beginning of this month. (I’m currently 49 books ahead of schedule!!)

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted byΒ Sam @ Taking on a World of Worlds, and I saw it in a beautiful blog post on Maddie @ Munch Review‘s blog, so I decided to do it as well. πŸ’—

Captive Prince by S.U. Pacat

This book is so controversialβ€”everyone either loves it, or hates itβ€”and I can’t wait to find out on which side I’ll land.

The last three books I read are all from different genres, and I’m really proud of myself for branching out, and reading books I don’t normally read (political literature)! I wrote mini reviews for all three of these books (+ four others)Β here, and you should totally go check them out. (You know you want to.)

bannerWhat Will I Read Next?

I’m beyond excited about all the amazing May book releases this year, and I’ve added two of them straight to my next-up shelf. I still can’t decide which book I should start reading first, thoughβ€”they all look so pretty and sound so good?? (HELP.)

What are your WWWs? (Feel free to leave a link of your blog post in the comments!)
Which one of the three books do you think I should read next?

I hope your Wednesday is kind to you!Β πŸ’—

    1. Thank you, Maddie! I had a lot of fun doing this meme! ❀

Ahh thanks! πŸ™‚ I've been trying to read more books from different genres. And I read your review for Circe, and it made me even more excited about it than I already was! I'm so glad you loved it.

    1. I’ve read so many great reviews for it, and I’m super excited to read it! Plus, I’ve also read that there are magical elements in the book, so I’m very curious how it all plays out.

You should totally do it! 😊 Thanks, Sofii, you too πŸ’žπŸ’ž

  1. I’ve heard so many good things about all 3 books on your next reads list – and I’ve read Circe. I thought it was absolutely fantastic and think you should make that your next read. It’s so magical and the writing has a wonderfully dreamlike quality to it.

    1. Yes, same! Everyone’s raving about these books. Circe actually would make the most sense, because I’ve been looking forward to it for the longest, and I’m such a sucker for beautiful prose.

Thanks for your input, Bentley! πŸ™‚ And I’m so glad to hear you loved it.

    1. I honestly don’t know how that happened, but I think the universe is rewarding me with a reading slump for it, so …

Well, we are already screaming about it and I don’t even like it that much (I think?), so it’s all good. I CAN’T WAIT TO READ CIRCE EITHER, I’m so thrilled you loved it so much!! And I feel the same way about Girl Made of Stars, I’m so ready to cry ugly tears over a book again, it’s been too long.

      Lololove you πŸ’œ

  6. 49 books ahead of schedule??? wow you’re amazing! i’m curious about which side i’ll be on captive prince, it’s such a polarizing book! i recommend circe because that’s the only one i’ve read from the 3, but if you want something more fun/fast paced because you’re in the slump, i think you should pick undead girl gang since circe is pretty slow πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, Tasya!! I’m still in disbelief about it, to be honest. Are you currently reading Captive Prince as well? And ahh most people said I should read Circe next, and I think I will. Thanks for helping me with my decision. 😊🌷

  7. Did you just say you’re 49 BOOKS AHEAD OF YOUR CHALLENGE? WHAT ARE YOUR MAGICAL POWERS AND HOW CAN I HAVE THEM, TOO? Seriously, I don’t know how you do it, you’re magical haha. πŸ™‚
I haven’t read any of these books – heard great things about Girl Made of Stars though! I don’t know if I’ll read it because of the trigger warnings, but it sounds like a very emotional story πŸ™‚ Hope you’ll enjoy all of your reads πŸ™‚

    1. AHH I WISH. IF I DID, I’D SHARE THEM WITH YOU IN A HEARTBEAT. I’m honestly so surprised as well, though, I checked the books to make sure the number is actually correct. πŸ˜…

And same, I’ve only read amazing things about Girl Made of Stars. I’m a little bit afraid of the trigger warnings as well, but I think after having read A Little Life (and now Captive Prince) I’ll hopefully be prepared for this book.

Thanks, Marie! I hope you’re enjoying yours as well πŸ’—

  8. I love this post! I’m really excited to read Girl Made of Stars as well, I’ve heard great things about it from other book blogs recently. πŸ™‚ And I also really want to read What Happened. I got it for my mom for Christmas so it shouldn’t be too hard to get my hands on. XD I’m about to go read your review of it now!

  9. Holy moly, congrats on your reading challenge so far! And I thought I was doing well being 15 ahead…

I have so many friends swearing that I need to read Captive Prince and I just HAVEN’T yet. I would love to see how you go with it. All three of your next reads are TBRs for me too! particuarly Undead Girl Gang because YA queer wicca users?! Yes please.

    1. Thank you so much, Becca! And ahh congrats on being 15 books ahead of your challenge!! Looks like we’re both having a pretty good reading year so far. 😊

I’ve seen Captive Prince on my Goodreads feed for forever, and thought it was time I finally checked it out. I hated it yesterday, but now I’m actually almost enjoying [?] it (if you can call it that).

And yess, I’m super curious about Undead Girl Gang because of the magical aspect as well! I hope we love all three of these books. πŸ’–πŸ’–

  10. Jellicoe Road is one of my absolute faves of all time! It completely rocked my world when I was 16. And I was iffy about Captive Prince (things verged too close to rape for my comfort), but things get better in the sequels as the author focuses more on developing Damen and Laurent’s relationship. Looking forward to your thoughts on it!

And I’ve heard how Circe is so beautifully-written and wonderfully feminist, so my votes on that one. πŸ˜‰

    1. Ahh it makes me so happy, whenever I find someone who loves a Marchetta novel, she’s so underrated. And I agree with you on Captive Prince, book one was honestly a harrowing experience for me, but I’m on the second one now, and I like it much more.

Thanks for weighing in, Kathy! πŸ’ I’ve decided to start reading Circe tomorrow. 😊
